Invitation

Dear Friends, dear Colleagues,

It is our pleasure to cordially invite you to the 40th Meeting of the European Paediatric Ophthalmological Society EPOS that will be held in Barcelona the 6-8th 2014. The local hosts will be Alicia Serra and Marta Morales.

Barcelona is a Mediterranean city, where you will have the opportunity to visit Gaudi architecture, walk around near the sea and have tasty meals outside with generally pleasant weather. Barcelona has the dynamic and open personality so typical of Mediterranean cities. It is the perfect city to relax in, stroll around and enjoy. Barcelona has its own way of life which makes it unique. The sea breezes mean that Barcelona enjoys a pleasant climate and it is also the cradle of many cultures and a witness to major transformations, Barcelona has a fascinating history. Get an insight into the way people live in Barcelona. The weather in November is generally still pleasant but starting to get a little cooler (21C to 15C).

The main topic this year will be Paediatric Cataracts and Paediatric Glaucoma. The organizing committee is intending to compose a diversified program and high scientific level. As usual, free papers and posters from other fields of genetic and paediatric ophthalmology are also welcome, and given the success reached last year in Leiden, Posters with Rapid Fire presentation will be included again in the program. Time scheduled for oral presentations: 7 min + 3 min discussion, for rapid fire: 2 min + 1 min discussion. Please note that strabismus-related papers are outside the scope of EPOS as other international societies cover this field effectively.

To encourage young scientists to participate, presenters of 35 years or younger may apply for a travel grant. The final decision about the travel grants will be made September 7th and will be communicated directly afterwards. Rules for application can be found here at the website. As in previous years, there is a technical exhibit. We encourage you to visit the exhibit during the coffee and lunch breaks. We would like to thank all exhibitors for their significant efforts to support this meeting.
